Entitled "It Can Happen to Anyone," the CD is set to hit stores on the EMI label at the end of June. Withers-Mendes composed all the songs for her recording, which she says is "[my] music mixed in with [the sound of] Tina Turner and Gwen Stefani. It's an eclectic album that I think everybody is going to enjoy."
Color Purple marks the Broadway debut for Withers-Mendes, who has recorded and performed with such artists as Luther Vandross, Cher, Celine Dion and Henry Krieger. She also penned the song "Emotions," a number-one hit on the Billboard Charts.
The Color Purple, nominated for 11 Tony nominations, plays the Broadway Theatre.
