Björk-Filled Dance Musical All Is Full of Love Performs for Good Cause Feb. 12 in NYC

By Kenneth Jones
01 Feb 2006

A special one-night-only Manhattan performance of the new dance musical All Is Full of Love — conceived, choreographed and directed by Josh Walden and set to the music of Björk — will benefit The Walden Company and Dancers Responding To AIDS.

Eva Price presents the evening, hosted by Tony Award winner Gary Beach (The Producers, La Cage aux Folles), 8 PM Feb. 12 at The Theater at St. Clements, 423 West 46th Street.

Dancers Responding to AIDS is a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The Walden Company is Josh Walden's new dance company.

"All Is Full of Love is Josh Walden's contemporary dance musical based on the narrative of On the Town and set to the music of Björk," according to the announcement. "All Is Full of Love follows the journeys of three women adjusting to life in New York City. Combining Björk's uniquely emotional, adult, contemporary sound with the traditions of musical theatre choreography, All Is Full of Love explores the magnitude of disillusionment, hope and survival in the big city."

A brief excerpt of the show was first presented to great acclaim at BC/EFA's Gypsy of the Year competition at The Palace Theatre in fall 2002. The piece had its world-premiere in 2003 at the Brooklyn Lyceum in breedingground productions' Spring Fever Festival.

All Is Full of Love features Jolynn Baca, Timothy W. Bish (Movin' Out, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Anthony Frisina (Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Anything Goes at Paper Mill), Amy Ling (Radio City Christmas Spectacular, national tour of 42nd Street), Javier Munoz and Jill Slyter (Show Boat). Also featured in the cast are Enders Groff, Lea Kohl (national tour of 42nd Street), Kenway Kua (Wicked), Nathan Peck (La Cage aux Folles, The Boy from Oz), Bianca Stauffer, Shanna VanDerwerker (Wicked) and Willie Lee-Williams (national tour of Miss Saigon).

The work has costume design by Rob Bevenger and Theresa DiStasi, and lighting design by Natalie Robin.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to support Dancers Responding to AIDS. Founded in 1991 by Denise Roberts Hurlin and Hernando Cortez, DRA "is a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading industry-based AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. The funds raised are distributed to seven programs of The Actors' Fund of America and as grants to over 400 AIDS and Family service organizations across the United States."

Tickets are now available through TheaterMania.com or via telephone at (212) 352-3101. Ticket prices are $39.90 and $55.50 (show only), and $81.50 (VIP ticket which includes pre-show reception).
