Screen Star Morse Takes the Stage in Iceman Cometh Boston Reading

Stage and screen star David Morse will be featured in a reading of Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh at The Shubert Theatre in Boston, Jan. 30.
Steven Maler directs the work which kicks off the third annual "American Voices: Drama, Dialogue, Downtown" play reading series. Morse will be joined in the cast for the 7 PM reading by Jeff Gill, Sam Weisman, Lonnie Farmer, Paul Farwell, Charles Weinstein, Tasso Feldman and Caroline deLima.
Morse has appeared on the Broadway stage in On the Waterfront and Off Broadway in How I Learned to Drive. Morse is also known for his film work in "The Green Mile," "Hearts in Atlantis," "Dancer in the Dark," "The Negotiator" and "12 Monkeys" among others. He has also been seen on television in "Hack," "Murder Live!," "Stephen King's 'The Langoliers'" and "St. Elsewhere."
The O'Neill drama follows an ex-anarchist and saloon regular who, with the fellow denizen of this watering hole, mourn their dull lives and share their dreams one night as they wait for their beloved salesman, Hickey (Morse).
The "American Voices" series, which "showcases classic American works," will continue with readings of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun (Feb. 27) and Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana (March 13). Previous work read in the series launched in 2003 included Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf starring Denis O'Hare, August Wilson's Fences, David Mamet's American Buffalo, Sam Shepard's True West with Paul Rudd, Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker starring Charles Busch as Dolly Levi, Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour and Charles Fuller's A Soldier’s Play with Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Anthony Mackie.
