LAB Hosts a 12-Hour Marathon of New Works with "Live Nude Plays" April 16

By Ernio Hernandez
11 Apr 2007

"Live Nude Plays" is the marquee name for the LAByrinth Theater Company's new free marathon festival of staged readings that will debut April 16.

The works-in-progress series — which replaces the previous reading series "In The Kitchen" — will perform over the span of half a day (noon-midnight) at The Public Theater's Martinson Hall.

The readings that will be featured during the marathon follow:

  • Noon: Space by Keli Garrett (directed by Dominic Taylor)
  • 2 PM: the body and the father by Florencia Lozano
  • 4 PM: Gingerbread House by Mark Schultz (dir. Brian Roff)
  • 6 PM: Bloodless by Michael Voyer (dir. Andrea Ciannavei)
  • 8 PM: Dress Them Down With Whiskey by Bill Powers (dir. Donal Lardner Ward)
  • 10 PM: Crazy Little Thing by Melissa Ross (dir. Brian Roff)

Works for "Live Nude Plays" were selected from LAByrinth's Summer Intensive and are "designed to encourage further development of new works from up-and-coming and established playwrights alike."

The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are necessary. Seating will be general admission on a first-come, first-served basis per performance. Patrons are advised to arrive at the theatre 30 minutes before the performance they would like to attend.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in downtown Manhattan. For more information on LAB, visit labtheater.org.
