Jenn Collela, Veanne Cox and Anne L. Nathan star in the new musical Kiki Baby which kicks off The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's Music Theatre Conference, July 15.

Matt Cowart will direct Kiki Baby which plays July 15-21 at the Waterford, Connecticut venue's Rose Barn Theater. Broadway director Robert Longbottom (Side Show, The Scarlet Pimpernel) will stage the other upcoming OTC project, Triangle, July 22-29 on the same stage.

The musical writer-composer teams of the two musicals (from more than 100 submissions) selected work for two weeks, developing their respective works with actors, directors and dramaturgs, before they are presented in readings.

Jenn Collela, William Parry, Alison Briner, Dan Sharkey, Colby Foytik, David Pittu, Mary Pat Gleason, Veanne Cox, Adam Heller, Phyllis Somerville and Anne L. Nathan will star in Kiki Baby. The work — about "a four-and-a-half-year-old child prodigy [who] becomes the breadwinner for her destitute family and greedy neighbors, resulting in hilarious yet scathing results" — features a book by Lonny Price, music by Grant Sturiale and lyrics by Ellen Fitzhugh. Stan Tucker serves as music director

Next up, Colin Hanlon, Stephen Bienskie, Heather Ayers, Jodie Langel, Wayne Wilcox, Megan McGinnis, Alicia Irving and David Brummel will appear in Triangle. Featuring a book by Joshua V. Scher, music by Curtis Moore and lyrics by Thomas Mizer, the musical finds that "the present resurrects the past and the past rescues the present in two New York stories — one set in 1911 and the other in 2001." Dale Rieling is music director.

Tickets are sale through the O'Neill Box Office at (860) 443-1238. Outdoor performances are moved indoors in the event of rain.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center was founded in 1964 and based in Waterford, CT. Programs at the Center include the Puppetry Conference, Playwrights Conference, Critics Institute, Music Theater Conference and the National Theater Institute. The Monte Cristo Cottage, O'Neill's childhood home, is also owned and operated by the group.
