By Andrew Gans
01 Jun 2006

The annual Stars in the Alley concert, scheduled for June 7 in Shubert Alley, will feature a host of theatre favorites.

Among those slated to appear at the 11 AM event are Cynthia Nixon, Lucie Arnaz, Jonathan Pryce, Oliver Platt, Ian McDiarmid, Kate Burton, Judy Kaye, Sutton Foster, and Darlene Love. The free concert, which is presented by Continental Airlines and The League of American Theatres and Producers, will boast performances from Avenue Q, Chicago, The Color Purple, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Light in the Piazza, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, Rent, Spamalot, Sweeney Todd, The Wedding Singer and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

The yearly event, which celebrates the end of the theatre season, will also feature cast members from Awake and Sing, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Doubt, Faith Healer, The History Boys, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Shining City and Wicked. The morning concert will feature a raffle of a Broadway prize package, and Lucie Arnaz and Jonathan Pryce will present the Star Award to Christine C. Quinn, Speaker of the City Council. The Star Award recognizes "an individual in public or government service who has demonstrated significant support for Broadway."

Shubert Alley is located west of Broadway between 44th and 45th Streets. Those attending the concert should plan to enter on 45th Street. For more information visit www.starsinthealley.com.
