Title DJ/ Sound/ Announcer - Dance Competition Tour

Description StarQuest International, a worldwide performing arts competition company (Steve Wappel dir.) is currently hiring New York City based, organized, punctual, positive thinking, "people-oriented" men & women who passionately want to show our dancers/customers how much we care about them. StarQuest is a leader in the dance competition industry for the past 17 years.

NEEDED:
DJ/Sound Engineers: Strong DJ ability & DJing experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of different songs & musical styles needed. Makes all the announcements with a clear, commanding voice. Very busy position with constant music, distractions and interruptions. This position is the main source of pace and energy for the entire production. Sets up sound station and all audio equipment including lobby feeds and dressing rooms feeds. Collects, organizes & double checks studio CDs turned in by teachers. Chooses transition music to be played between each entry. Sound reinforcement during awards ceremonies. Should have a good technical sense combined with an artistic ear. Sound is located in the pit and, therefore, the sound console must ALWAYS look clean, organized and ready for the next entry. Must have a good sense of theatre and understand the mechanics of keeping a show flowing
musically. (Need 3 per season)

The regional touring season runs 15 weekends, not including Easter:
-Training Part 1: January 18-22, 2010
-Tour 1: runs from February 2-May 23, 2010
-Tour 2: runs from February 9-May 23, 2010
-Tour 3: runs from February 23-May 23, 2010

-This position is Non-Union.
-Competitive salary plus commission.
-Travel, food & lodging provided.
-Intensive paid training for all positions on site in actual facilities.
-Those signed must be available for ALL shows and have open availability.
-Must be able to travel from New York City airports.
-Travel Thursday through Monday includes setup, show & strike.
